NOTABLE COURSE LANDMARKS
VARSITY COURSE MILE MARKERS
Located in the straightaway in the Middle School football field.
In the woods before the course enters the Lower Meadow.
In the woods shortly after course crosses the Creek Bottom Bridge.
JV/MIDDLE SCHOOL COURSE MILE MARKERS
Located right as the athletes exit the woods by the START/FINISH area.
Same as above.
Below is a map that will help you identify specific areas of our course by names we have given them over the years. This shows both the Varsity and JV Courses combined. The Varsity course adds the red trails in the Lower Meadow while the JV/MS course bypasses them in the Upper Meadow.
WARNINGS
Runners and Coaches should not attempt to "shortcut" any part of the course and should stay on all marked paths through the woods due as the Chestatee woods is home to a wide variety of obstacles such as:
High density areas of poison ivy
Thorns
Hidden holes
Copperhead snakes
Active ground wasp nests throughout the Chestatee woods.
We do make every attempt to remove Yellow Jacket nests when located near a few feet from our trail, but do not seek out nests that may lie under fallen branches or leaves 6 feet or more off the trail. It is summer and the wasps have been very active this year.
